Join the Celebration and Advocate for Afterschool

Mark your calendars: October 26, 2017, is the 18th annual Lights On Afterschool. Launched in October 2000, Lights On Afterschool is the only nationwide event celebrating afterschool programs and their important role in keeping kids safe, inspiring them to learn and helping working families.

Each year, the Afterschool Alliance organizes Lights On Afterschool to draw attention to the many unique ways afterschool programs support students by offering them opportunities to learn new things—such as science, community service, robotics, Tae Kwon Do and poetry—and discover new skills. The events send a powerful message that millions more kids need quality afterschool programs.

This year, youth and parent voices are more important than ever before. Make your event an opportunity to connect with local, state and federal elected officials by organizing a site visit or hosting an advocacy activity as part of your celebration.

More than 1 million Americans celebrate at more than 8,000 events annually across the country in the nation's biggest rally for afterschool. Join the celebration! Plan and register your event today.
