Reading matters, especially when it comes to the next generation. Since the invention of social media, children have become more in-tune with a short-hand version of writing and a low reading comprehension as they get to the higher grade levels.

There have been early warning signs signaling that this might happen but what are the next steps we as educators must take, before it's too late?

According to a research update on third-grade reading by The Annie E. Casey Foundation, recently, there has been a heightened sense of urgency when it comes to third-grade reading proficiency.
