The Resources You Need to Promote Tolerance and Inclusion

All over the country, afterschool leaders and professionals like you are standing up to promote tolerance and inclusion—fighting for safe places now, and for peaceful and prosperous futures free from bigotry and hate.

As domestic terrorism and other hate-related tragic events continue to harm our nation, NAA is committed to creating and curating resources to support our members in their work with young people, communities and each other.

Resources for proactive impact:

Teaching Tolerance
Understanding and Responding to Incidents of Bias
Start Empathy
Being an Ally in the Workplace
A Comprehensive Technical Package for the Prevention of Youth Violence and Associated Risk Behaviors

Resources for the aftermath of tragedy, like those included in:

Community Change in Times of Tragedy
Ten Ways to Fight Hate Community Response Guide
Resources for Educators to Use In The Wake Of Charlottesville
#CharlottesvilleCurriculum, the new Twitter hashtag for educators, parents and anyone else looking for resources to lead discussions with young people.

Afterschool can enact social change. We have no idea how long or how often we will be talking about domestic terrorism—or about violence abroad—but we do know that every day we have an opportunity to ensure that greater peace and understanding are part of the culture we are creating for young people, for families and for ourselves.

If you have a resource you've found helpful and others should know about, please share by e-mailing heidi@naaweb.org or tweet @natlafterschool.
