Professionalizing the Workforce in Out-of-School Time and School-Age Child Care

Join the National Center on Afterschool and Summer Enrichment (NCASE) in an informational webinar on workforce development in out-of-school time (OST) and school-age child care,

hosted live in session from the National AfterSchool Association Convention in Dallas, Texas.

Learn about the history of efforts to professionalize the field and the current state of affairs, and hear from State representatives on how they are addressing key OST workforce issues—such as core competencies, professional development and compensation. Presenters will share national lessons learned and examples from State-level efforts.

The webinar will be particularly valuable for State- and Territory-level professionals, including State Child Care and Development Fund administrators, State Afterschool Network leads, 21st Century Community Learning Center leads, and providers of school-age professional services.

Discussion topics include:

Data on the OST workforce and efforts to professionalize the field.

The role of higher education and efforts to advance credentials or certification.

The building of a system that spans the continuum of care, from early childhood to school-age and beyond.
