Tweet Chat: How Out-of-School Programs Could Affect #LatinoHealth

Out-of-school time providers are in a unique position to support or hinder healthy eating and physical activity for youth.

Join @Natlafterschool and @SaludToday for #SaludTues on Twitter at 1 p.m. ET, Tuesday, September 13, 2016, to tweet about "How Out-of-Schools Programs Can Impact #LatinoHealth."

Many studies show that physical activity positively affects a child's physical and mental development. Unfortunately, Latino youth face many cultural, social, economic, political and psychosocial barriers to being physically active, such as less time during the school day for recess and physical education, as well as lack of access to safe places to walk, bike and play outside of school.

Out-of-school time providers can play a critical role in supporting physical activity for youth, thus having an impact on their development and lifelong habits.

Please join us September 13, 2016, to tweet about how out-of-schools providers could make an impact on Latino health.
