Are you ready to get "gritty"?

Cutting-edge researcher and MacArthur Fellow Dr. Angela Lee Duckworth headlines NAA16 for an engaging discussion on "grit"–the skill she believes is most closely tied to lifelong success.

As a teacher, Dr. Duckworth found that her smartest students were not always the ones who succeeded the most. As she began to study why some students were succeeding while others lagged behind, she noticed that long-term motivation for success and the ability to rebound from failure were qualities among all of her top students.

What is grit? How do we cultivate it in our students? Why are some people are motivated to keep trying despite failure? How can we teach ourselves to be "gritty" and learn from failure?
