What are these things? What is their role in afterschool? How do they pertain to you as a leader? How would an increased EI affect you, those around you, your staff, and/or your program?
Explore all of these questions in NAA's Leading with Emotional Intelligence Fellowship. This six-month Fellowship is designed to develop the emotional intelligence of afterschool leaders and will include vital strategies to improve program leadership, staff development, and relationships.
We all know that social and emotional skills are important to develop in kids, but the learning doesn't have to stop there. Similar competencies in adults, known as emotional intelligence, can be further developed to enhance leadership skills. Research connects a high level of EI—self-awareness, self-management, social awareness and relationship management—with strong and successful leadership. Leading with Emotional Intelligence Fellows will become more connected to their emotional intelligence and strengthen their ability to:
- Put People at Ease
- Balance Between Personal Life and Work
- Build and Mend Relationships
- Do Whatever it Takes
- Improve Decisiveness
- Model Strong Social Emotional Skills for Others
Fellows will interact with engaging online content, a peer coach, and the fellowship facilitator, and have the opportunity to present at NAA's annual convention and more. Join this fellowship and take a few hours out of each of the next six months to virtually leave your community and learn about this important concept with colleagues from around the country. Fellows will receive development and resources that will positively impact themselves and their communities.
