In honor of Digital Learning Day, we asked NAA members to share their favorite apps, platforms and other digital resources to help strengthen the afterschool community. Here are a couple of our favorites, including a curated collection of NAA digital learning resources. Let's use these tools to learn, grow and celebrate digital learning together!
Tracy Henry, NAA Ambassador member and Site Coordinator at GISD/21st Century CLC in Michigan, suggests Google Classroom as a useful tool for both youth and afterschool professionals.
"Google Classroom is a web-based platform that is communicated to students via their school email," Henry shared. "It is a place to house lessons that students can access. There are many formats like Google forms, videos, surveys, photos and messages that students can use to communicate."
Karen Darby, NAA Ambassador member and Early Learning MultiMedia Manager at Southwestern Child Development Commission in North Carolina, recommends Factile for use by both young people and adults.
"This tool is so quick and easy to use. You can create a Jeopardy-style quiz board in just a few minutes," Darby explains, noting it's much more fun for students than a study guide or flashcards alone. "Older students can create their own. This creates a fun way for student engagement while learning online."
