Making an Impact Through Exploration and Discovery

National Geographic has partnered with the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation to make learning come alive after school. The two organizations have created immersive, virtual learning experiences specifically for afterschool educators and students.

Starting this month, both National Geographic and the Mott Foundation hope to team up with as many afterschool educators as possible to inspire students to make an impact through exploration and discovery. An invitation is extended to everyone in the afterschool and out-of-school time community to join in!

Programs include Explorer Classroom: Afterschool Edition, a live YouTube show in which National Geographic Explorers chronicle their adventures in the fields of science, research and storytelling. Students interact with world-renowned changemakers in real time and are encouraged to ask questions at the end. Shows are broadcast biweekly on Wednesdays at 4 p.m. (EST), with the next one airing on March 10, 2021.

Additionally, educators are invited to learn how to create engaging lessons in biodiversity through BioBlitz webinars. Starting March 10, afterschool educators can attend virtual workshops that demonstrate how to teach students to safely explore their local environments, no matter the setting. Students learn to identify and classify organisms in their own backyard!

National Geographic and the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation are thrilled to continue empowering afterschool educators and students through programming made especially for them.
