Recently, NAA asked afterschool leaders for their best tips for staff recognition during the pandemic:
"A staff shout out board works great. Anyone in the team can post a note that gives a shout out to another team member. On the larger team in our organization, we are each given three awards per year that we can give to fellow team members. Awardees can cash them in for various prizes." – Nikki Mills, Program Manager, Vineyard Community Center.
"We have a weekly email staff bulletin and one of our segments is called 'shout out.' It gives our staff the opportunity to give a shout out to a colleague." – Janette Leonard, Director, Dublin Latchkey.
"Handwritten cards from supervisors are greatly appreciated—as is thoughtful, effective feedback. And cash works too!" – Katherine Spinney, Founder, Katherine Spinney Coaching LLC.
What are some of your favorite ways to show staff recognition?
