Recently, NAA asked afterschool leaders for their best tips for staff recruitment during the pandemic:
"We were on a hiring freeze so couldn't hire anyone ... but we did partner with Camp Fire & Boys/Girls Club to offer programming, so that helped with staff."
– Erica Kreisler, Out of School Coordinator, Kansas City of Parks & Recreation.
"I personally reached out to local colleges head of the Department of Education and introduced myself and the program and provided them the application link to send out to their education students. I also included the benefits that working for our program has for their students and the real-world education applications. Also had our school district send an email to district teachers to pass along information to people they may know."
– Tyler Kearns, Program Coordinator, Clayton School District: Kid Zone.
"Our district put recruitment information in their biweekly newsletters that go out to all parents and staff and teachers put the information in their classroom newsletters. I also posted at colleges and the high school."
– Ashlee Liska, Program Director, Republic R-III School District.
