Increasing STEM Accessibility

How can you engage, amaze and expand STEM learning for your afterschool students? Introducing Siemens STEM Day, a free, standards-aligned online STEM program created in partnership with Discovery Education and Siemens Foundation.

Siemens STEM Day includes more than 150 standards-aligned K-12 STEM activities that can be filtered by grade level, category, or career path, and explore topics spanning healthcare, engineering, IT, science, math, technology, energy, and manufacturing. Created for ease of implementation, the activities are intentionally designed to use simple materials found in a typical classroom setting.

Additionally, the Train the Trainer toolkit empowers all educators and afterschool professionals to facilitate STEM lessons in their classrooms and communities, regardless of education training or background. The comprehensive toolkit features a video and downloadable trainer guide that provides guidance on how to use the Siemens STEM Day program to create an inspiring and impactful STEM experience for all students. Using the trainer guide and companion video, educators with all levels of experience can effectively facilitate and engage their students in exciting STEM learning opportunities.

Siemens STEM Day is working hard to ensure STEM is accessible to students in diverse afterschool settings. As the computer engineering, mathematics, and science industries expand, it becomes increasingly important that STEM education, opportunities, and workforce development skills are available to a diverse profile of students and educators. The Siemens Foundation and Discovery Education believe diversity and inclusion foster a space for more advanced creative thinking and critical analysis.
