At NAA23, our connections - from the stage to the learning expo to the classrooms - taught us that no one has your back like another afterschool professional. When things get hard, or you are starting a new position, look to your colleagues for ideas, strategies, and supports. General Session 3 featured a star-studded line up to celebrate the power of mentors and friends. Each speaker explored what it means to listen carefully and lift up each other as people and professionals.
This year’s Speaker Series at NAA23 brought powerhouse professionals and youth-professional promoters from around the country to share their experiences and insights during Convention’s General Sessions. During the second presentation, we got to meet the 2023 class of Next Generation Leaders and provide the audience with a live recording of a Causenetic podcast episode. Our presenters, podcast hosts, and panelists carried the inspiration from the first session, and kept the vibe alive with new ideas, opinions, and calls to action.
Afterschool Professionals Appreciation Week 2023 is April 24-28 and it’s the perfect time to recognize, appreciate, and advocate for those who work with young people during out-of-school hours. The week is marked by celebrations and public relations efforts encouraging appreciation and support for all the afterschool professionals who make a profound difference in the lives of young people.
The NAA23 Speaker Series featured top-notch OST professionals from across the nation at each of the three General Sessions. For our kick-off session, we heard from speakers who gave more than just a talk; they set the tone for Convention. These amazing women shared their ability to touch the collective soul and inspire all participants with their messages centered on the theme:
All of the I’s have their dots, the T’s are fully crossed, and NAA’s Convention team is a whirling mix of excitement and anticipation with a splash of nervous energy. Will participants be as thrilled as we are to be at NAA23? What will be their favorite takeaways? How many people will walk away with new products and services – new ideas – new friends? Did we quadruple-check the lighting cues? On the eve of kick-off, NAA leaders reflected on their hopes for this year’s gathering.
What a week! NAA23 brought over 1,500 out-of-school time professionals together in Orlando for four days full of powerful, insightful speakers, and thorough, thought-provoking learning sessions. From 5:30 PM on Sunday until 12:00 PM on Wednesday, we were in nonstop go mode – connecting with old friends and making new ones through our shared passions and experiences. At NAA, we LOVED the energy participants, presenters, and vendors brought – and we were thrilled to check in and see that you were just as jazzed as we were! Here’s some great feedback we received from folx in the field.

Robotics offers an exciting and engaging way to introduce coding and the fun of STEM/STEAM learning to kids in PreK-upper elementary, especially in Out-of-School Time settings, including afterschool programs, enrichment centers, and summer camps. When using robotics in these informal settings, kids can get creative, practice problem solving, and engage in critical thinking in a hands-on way, while having a blast at the same time.
NAA23 is officially sold out!
