A former classroom teacher, US Senate staffer, political consultant, registered lobbyist and now leader of the national member association for afterschool and youth development professionals, Warner will engage her audience in a frank - yet optimistic -examination of how practicing greater self-awareness and modeling positive relationship-building for youth will help our field can persist and thrive in the current political environment -- and also ensure that future generations understand and practice effective social emotional skills.

The workshop will also include a sneak peek of a new resource NAA, in partnership with American Institutes for Research, has created to help afterschool practitioners understand their social and emotional competencies, outline critical practices that support social and emotional learning, and identify and understand the social and emotional skills youth can – and should – develop as a result of participating in high-quality SEL programs.
