What is the TOT program?
The Certified Healthy OST Training of Trainers (TOT) program is for individuals and organizations with a strong interest in healthy eating and physical activity among OST programs in their community. The trainings, in alignment with NAA's nationally recognized OST Healthy Eating and Physical Activity (HEPA) Standards and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) Whole School, Whole Child, Whole Community model, provide afterschool leaders with the knowledge and tools to train school-based OST staff in health and wellness.
Who is making this possible?
The Alliance for a Healthier Generation has received a cooperative agreement from the CDC's School Health Branch to provide technical assistance and training to school districts, school buildings and OST providers, to support healthy eating and physical activity in out-of-school time settings.
Why become a TOT?
TOT programs prepare facilitators to present information effectively, respond to participant questions and lead activities that reinforce learning. The model enables experienced personnel (trainers) to show less-experienced facilitators (trainees) how to deliver workshops and resources to their frontline staff.
The TOT program will be held in early November 2017 and the location is to be determined. All travel expenses will be covered by the Alliance for a Healthier Generation.
