Leadership at NAA22

Friday, 08 April 2022 12:18

NAA22 Convention was a time to come together in unity, with community and for opportunity. It was also a space for leaders in the OST field to build connections with colleagues across the country. Here is what a few leaders had to share about NAA22.

“The NAA convention just reminded me how important togetherhood is to the field.  The opportunity to learn together, socialize together, and to recommit to quality afterschool is priceless. From listening to the powerful narratives of each featured speaker to navigating the halls of Caesars Palace, as a member of the Board, I was reminded how honored and privileged I am to be a part of a community that invests in its people with resources that equip them to know better, do better, and serve better. I can’t wait to see our membership next year as we head to Orlando.” - Dr. Tasha Franklin Johnson, NAA Board

“NAA22 Wow! Being in community with the amazing individuals that make up the field of afterschool… meeting new friends and colleagues and spending time with those who make it feel like coming home. The laughter and joy that comes with talking about thriving with the dynamic duo of Keith Vinson and Rodrigua Ross, MBA on the #causenetic podcast. The pride in seeing Hannah Patterson receive the NextGen Award. The humility, empathy, courage, pride and a million more feelings that come with a community showcase on the main stage. And so much more that I’m bringing back with me.” - Shawna Rosenzweig, NAA Board

“NAA22 was my fourth NAA Convention, my first as an NAA Board Member and my first conference since March 2019. It was reenergizing to be in-person again with so many amazing afterschool professionals. I got the opportunity to reconnect with many friends, meet many new and inspiring people, and I even got to read part of NAA's proclamation on the field of afterschool professionals on the main stage. I'm very honored to serve this field, and very humbled to do it with my incredible fellow board members and NAA leadership team. Here's to continuing to do this critical, challenging, rewarding work- together!” - Matthew Moheban, NAA Board

“Always a wonderful balm for my soul when I am with colleagues at NAA. Thank you National Afterschool Association for the opportunity to be an opening night convention speaker and day one presenter! It is always a pleasure to join NAA and gather with colleagues. Looking forward to NAA23.” - Marcy Peake, Center for Cultural Agility

“An amazing experience at the NAA Convention in Las Vegas hanging with like-minded people and discussing the things we love the most - transforming our education system and helping our youth THRIVE.” - Sonia Toledo, Dignity of Children
